I found myself staring at my computer till the early hours of the morning watching eBay auctions dwindle down despite never having enough money to purchase the product. I also found myself watching the odds of sports, calculating the best way to approach losing my money. Yes, its a money based world and at heart, obsessed with the good moo-lah, and invariably i think so am i.
NBA, ATP, NFL, TAB. In case you've been living under a rock, i bet on the National Basketball Association (American Basketball), Association of Tennis Professionals, and the National Football League (American Football) at the Totalisator Agency Board. In case you have no idea what betting is, i basically wager money on a team to win a match against another team. In case you still have no idea what i'm talking about, i'm making some money.
Like most addictions, such as that of drugs, and alcohol, gambling is bad. Unless you're winning, in which case, it is the best addiction you can have. I'm not saying i have some god-given gift for picking a winner (because i do) but lady luck has been on my side and i'm currently up fifty bucks. Which in any ones books, buys a couple of rounds.
Addictions can distract you, but considering it's school, addictions are invariably the best remedy for a holy-shit-i-just-failed-my-test-cause-i-studied-the-night-before. Like most vaccines though, it can probably cause the disease before defending you from it. Regardless, i go through phases of obsession in my life, and just like anything, it comes and goes, and is soon replaced by another, so why fight against it especially when winning money tastes so good.
On a side note, our cricket team remains unbeaten the entire half-season and just again barely held on to two victories this half-season. Now if only i could bet on my cricket team to win.
Checking odds (i.e. my winnings) on tomorrow's NBA games so bye.
