Today i slept in til 1pm which i haven't done in a long time and honestly despite being a massive waste of a day, it really appealed to me for some reason. Surprisingly i took a nap two hours later as well just in case i thought i didn't have enough sleep.
I've been rather negligent of this blog as i have previously written a hard-copy form of a post haven't bothered typing up (till now) here but here it is:
I spent five days recently in Melbourne for a Rugby tour, and despite everybody's fears of being run over by a tram, bashed by a street performer, or impaled by the city's art, i remain intact. My billet represented the fact that stereotypes don't have to exist if you choose so. A red-haired Caucasian - he parties hard, smokes like a chimney and wants to go into design engineering related work. Despite all this he is also Diamond (Top 20%) of players in a computer game called Starcraft 2. So if my billet can play competitively in a computer game, still get wasted on weekends, and do reasonably okay at school: why can't we all?
My love for SingStar is one that is tender, and i furthered this by keeping the entire household up (and entertained) while me and the teammate that was also staying with the same billet battled to see whose singing skills (or cuisine) reigned supreme. Classic songs such as Dido's Thank You, Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Murder on the Dancefloor as well as getting Rick-Rolled. Did i mention i also spectated my first AFL game and it was definitely interesting, it must've been since around 90,000 people still came to watch a blow-out game where the most interesting thing to me were the exotic bets between teammates. Everything from which team gets the next goal or behind, right to which half the next bounce or throw-in comes in, left to which direction the pigeons would flock towards.
Every night was basically spent in the city whether it be just four guys exploring, visiting a teammate's aunty for dinner (which was meant to be less awkward then just him by himself without me), or the whole team celebrating both our wins in Melbourne. Yes, the five days in Melbourne were eventful and unforgettable (for most at least). Oh and i definitely made my pasta-sauce coloured mark on the city.
Trying to enjoy the warmer weather of home so bye.
